Due to the increasing violence on the streets of Philadelphia, USA, children and teenagers from 16 to 17 years old, from Thursday, July 14, will be under curfew, the local authorities have announced.

They will be able to be on the streets until 22:00, which is two hours more compared to the same period last year, when the curfew was set during the summer, Telegrafi reports.

For children from 14-15 years old, this curfew is already in effect from 22:00, while the younger ones, i.e. from 13 years old, must be in their homes at 21:30.

This curfew expires at 6 am.

The new curfew, which also varies the ages it affects, has been proposed by Kathryn Gillmore Richardson as responsible for order and peace in this city.

It can be seen that the violence in the streets by young people has significantly increased, where as a result 22 of them lost their lives and 106 were injured with firearms, a curfew has been proposed.

"We are seeing our young people involved in incidents and criminal acts, just going out late at night," Gillmore Richardson added.

The curfew for minors will not apply to those who have a reason and must be on the road, such as visiting elderly relatives they care for.
