The deputy of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Adnan Rrustemi, says that the recently established reciprocity for identity cards with Serbia will strengthen Kosovo's position in the dialogue.

He emphasizes that as long as Serbia does not recognize Kosovo's documents, Serbia's documents cannot be recognized either.

Rrustemi tells KosovaPress that only by being treated as an equal party in the dialogue with Serbia, mutual recognition will be achieved, which, according to him, will be at the center and around which all issues between the parties will be addressed.

"Undoubtedly because, as we have repeatedly said, the international representatives, the American president and then the German chancellor have also said that the agreement with Serbia will be based on recognition.

Recognition does not only mean the structure of the agreement, recognition is the central principle around which all issues between the parties will be handled.

The principle of reciprocity is also a contribution in this direction because Kosovo should be treated as an equal party and not as an issue as it was treated in the past.

But on the other hand, regardless of the reports or the relationship in the dialogue, Kosovo could not act otherwise than by protecting its constitutional and legal order", he says.

In addition to calling the government's decision on reciprocity for identity cards with Serbia right, the majority deputy says that the same protects the legal order and constitutionality of the country.

"It is a fair and expected decision.

Reciprocity is a principle of international law and a principle that characterizes relations between states, even more so for the LVV that has continuously said that reciprocity will be the main principle of any relation with Serbia, but also with other states. .

I consider that it is a fair decision, in defense of constitutionality and our legal and constitutional order, in addition to the defense of Kosovo's interests.

One could not expect otherwise from the Government of Kosovo, which has this responsibility.

Of course, as long as the Serbian state does not recognize Kosovo's documents, of course Serbia's documents cannot be recognized either," adds Rrustemi.

Regarding the consequences as a result of reciprocity, Rrustemi declares that as long as Serbia has a discriminatory and offensive approach to the citizens of Kosovo, the institutions of Kosovo have no other choice but reciprocity.

"I am sorry that we are talking about a kind of negative reciprocity, I would like to talk about a positive reciprocity, in the sense that Serbia recognizes the documents of Kosovo and then Kosovo recognizes the documents of Serbia, Serbia recognizes the license plates of the Republic of Kosovo and then Kosovo to recognize Serbia's license plates, and then Serbia to recognize the Republic of Kosovo and then Kosovo to recognize the Republic of Serbia.

But as long as the Serbian state has such a discriminatory and offensive approach, the institutions of Kosovo have no choice but to fulfill their responsibilities", declares Rrustemi.

The Head of the Parliamentary Commission for Legislation also underlines the need for Kosovo to push forward the Berlin Process until full integration into the European Union.

"The Berlin process is the path that the Republic of Kosovo must follow in terms of regional relations.

On the one hand, the Berlin Process is a process towards the EU, on the other hand it is a process conceived by the EU that treats the parties equally.

In the meantime, it is not an alternative opposition to the Open Balkans, but as we have said, the Open Balkans is an idea that was born in Serbia and of course it is an opposition to the EU integration process and the Berlin Process.

"Kosovo has no other way but to follow this process", concludes Rrustemi.
