Pro-Russian separatists in the Donetsk region paved the way for the execution of foreigners sentenced to death. This became possible after the moratorium on the death penalty was lifted by the internationally unrecognized parliament of the breakaway region in eastern Ukraine, BTA reports.

The decision came as two British nationals and a Moroccan man await to find out what their fate will be after they were sentenced to death by the separatists about a month ago.
They were accused of fighting for the Ukrainian army as mercenaries.
However, Ukraine claims that the three are regular soldiers and should be given rights as prisoners of war.
