A 25-year-old man was arrested in East Delhi

's Gandhi Nagar on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his neighbor over refusing to have sex.

The accused has been identified as Man Singh, a resident of Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh.

Police had received information that on July 1, a 22-year-old girl was lying in a pool of blood on the stairs in Raghubrapura-2, after which she was immediately taken to GTB Hospital.

According to the police, Man Singh used to work in a nearby readymade garments factory.

On the day of the incident, he decided to get a pair of scissors from the factory and work at home.

After everyone went to work, the accused drank beer.

When the victim went to the terrace to dry clothes, the accused blocked her way and demanded to have sex with her.

When she refused and threatened to tell her husband, he slit her throat.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyasundaram (Shahdara) said that the post-mortem was conducted at GTB Hospital on Sunday, where it was found that the victim's throat was slit with a sharp-edged weapon, following which a case of murder has been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station.
