About 1,000 of the more than 1,600 preschool educational institutions operating in the country were inspected by the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency and administrative disciplinary measures were taken.

"APA-Economics" informs that Elkhan Mikayilov, Chief of Staff of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency, said this while speaking at a media briefing dedicated to the results of the "Food Guides of Schoolchildren" pilot project.

According to him, the information about the results has been submitted to the Ministry of Education.

"One of the main challenges facing the country in the future is to promote proper nutrition, especially for teenagers and students, and increase attention to food safety issues. We believe that UNICEF has a great contribution in this process. I would like to inform you that we work with UNICEF in other directions. We also cooperate, including in the framework of the "Food guide for schoolchildren" project, we consider it appropriate to continue similar efforts in the future in the direction of proper nutrition of schoolchildren who are included in the category of vulnerable population," Elkhan Mikayilov said.
