Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has reiterated that Budapest will not send weapons to Ukraine, and that it will continue to buy electricity from Russia.

The head of Hungarian diplomacy, during a conversation with CNN, has defended the decision of the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban, to continue with the purchase of electricity from Russia and not to send weapons to Ukraine, Telegrafi reports.

Szijjarto said that the attempt to change the electricity supplier with someone else, "would mean that the expenses of the war will be transferred to the account of the Hungarian people".

Regarding the Hungarian government's decision not to send weapons to Ukraine, the minister said that Hungary "does not want to risk any Russian attack, over 150 thousand Hungarians living in the western part of Ukraine".

"For us, the main goal is not to get involved in this war in any way", added Szijjartoo.

On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is constantly calling on Western countries to send as many weapons as possible to Ukraine to protect itself from Russian aggression.
