Car manufacturers will have to put a black box in all new models from today (6.07).

Like those on airplanes, the boxes will record the history of crashes, said Martin Tanchev, the certified expert who extracts information from the new device.

The black box in cars sits under the gearbox, between the two front seats.

"At the moment, the majority of cars in the dealer network have integrated black boxes," he said.

Tanchev explained that extracting information from the "black boxes" takes from 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the make and model of the car.

The data contains speed of movement for the last 5 seconds, date and time of occurrence of the event, degree of turning, change of speed in reverse direction of movement, as well as sideways in direction of movement, which is a key parameter when it comes to road transport an accident.
