The data of the Kosovo Police show that the policemen in Kosovo are in danger for their lives.

21 is the number of those who have fallen into office since the war.

Meanwhile, regarding injuries during the performance of official duty, the police announces that in 2021 there are a total of 208, while in the six months of 2022 there are 116.

"As for cases of on-duty injuries of KP employees, this also includes accidental injuries on duty, in traffic (not only from cases of on-duty assaults)", says their answer to the Telegraph.

Recently, two members of the Kosovo Police were injured, one by a firearm and the other injured by heavy weapons, as a result of a fight that took place in Skenderaj.

In this case, it is suspected that the former vice-mayor of Skenderaj Municipality, Nuredin Lushtaku, and some of his family members are involved.

Therefore, the Basic Court in Mitrovica on Monday ordered the detention of the former vice-president Lushtaku and his two brothers, Arif and Faton Lushtaku, suspected of attacking police officials.

In his speech before the court, Nuredin Lushtaku said that this case is fabricated against him and his family.

"I consider the circumstances of this case to be set up against me and my family", said Lushtaku.

He said that listening to the words of the prosecution, he is surprised by the fact that the police is becoming a victim of the prosecution.

"As far as I know, they have two or three other tools, if you see that you are in danger from the crowd or from someone, the last one is the possibility of using a weapon, I have seen from other policemen that they have used spray, what what would have happened if they had all taken out their revolvers and pointed at us, when the revolver was taken out we were all being killed, since the police shot with revolvers, every action was influenced by the fear of shooting, and for take away the revolver, don't kill me, someone", said Lushtaku in court.

He added that no one needs to be afraid of them, neither the police nor the prosecution.

Regarding the case, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xelal Sveçla, also reacted, who called the attack on police officers in Skenderaj legally and morally intolerable.

In a post on Facebook, Sveçla wrote on Sunday that the attack was unprovoked and heavy on the police, while he said that policemen in the exercise of their public duties "must be inviolably unimpeded".

"They are the concrete name of public order.

We cannot have both a Republic and a lack of order.

"Today's event, apart from being intolerable legally and morally, also constitutes an attack on the order of the Republic", he said.
