Niyazi Bayramov, the head of the Ganja City Executive Authority, met with the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

According to the information provided to APA by Ganja City Council, during the conversation, discussions were held about the "Green City" project implemented by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Niyazi Bayramov said that by the order of President Ilham Aliyev, in 2020 Ganja joined the "Green City" project as the first city of Azerbaijan.

He noted that this project is one of the important events for the residents of Ganja.

The head of the city emphasized that the implementation of the "Green City" project is a happy thing for the city of Ganja.

Niyazi Bayramov said that he will not spare his support in the work carried out in this direction and wished success in the progress of the project.

Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Kamola Mahmudova, thanked Niyazi Bayramov for the cordial meeting.

He noted that the "Green City" project will help the city of Ganja in identifying and prioritizing the most urgent environmental problems and climate change risks.

Kamola Mahmudova pointed out that the project consists of three stages.

These are solid waste management, updating the city's street lighting system and public transport.

Kamola Mahmudova said that each of the works to be done will have a positive effect on the ecological situation of the city.

During the extensive discussions on the topic, it was also pointed out that at the initial stage, it is planned to fence the area around the Ganja household waste landfill and lay green strips.
