The judge of the preliminary procedure, Radoslav Markovic, has approved the request of the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Mitrovica for the appointment of the detention measure for Nuredin Lushtaku and his two brothers Arif and Faton Lushtaku, suspected of attacking two police officers in Skenderaj.

In the decision provided by the "Oath of Justice", it is said that this measure originates after the police report dated 02.06.2022, the report from the scene, photo documentation, documents from the University Clinical Center of Prishtina, photos of the feet of the now injured person have been provided. Mergim Geci, as well as witness statements.

State prosecutor Fetije Bajrami made the request for this measure after assessing that if the defendants were released, there is a possibility that they could influence the witnesses and destroy some evidence that would hinder the course of the criminal procedure.

Furthermore, the prosecutor requested that the two companions who were in the vehicle with Arbë Lushtak be identified and heard during the investigations, and that all these witnesses, who were questioned once, be questioned once more.

The prosecution has based the measure of detention also taking into account the seriousness of the criminal offences.

"... that the policeman was attacked while performing his official duty and that it was midnight.

, that they used weapons, that bodily injuries were caused to the police officers, that they stole the weapons from the injured Enver Berisha, as well as based on the file on behalf of the defendants that there is a risk that if they are released, they may repeat the criminal offenses or commit any other criminal offense against the injured parties", the decision reads.

The state prosecutor, at the hearing, clarified the circumstances of the case, saying that police officers Enver Berisha and Mergim Geci, at around 11:45 p.m., in Skenderaj, had stopped Arbër Lushtaku, who was fined for not using a seat belt.

According to the prosecution, he then called his father, Nuredin Lushtaku, who had come by car with his brothers Fato and Arif Lushtaku.

The suspect, Nuredin Lushtaku, had said that he considers the circumstances of this case to be rigged against him and his family.

An appeal can be filed against this decision in the Court of Appeal in Pristina within 24 hours from the day of acceptance of the decision, through this court.
