New Delhi:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday accused the BJP-led central government of not allowing elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in the city by using force and hooliganism.

The Chief Minister said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will go to court to conduct the elections on time.

In the Delhi Assembly on the second day of the Monsoon Session, Kejriwal claimed that there is talk that Delhi can be turned into a full-fledged Union Territory and there will be no elections.

During the discussion, Kejriwal said, "They (Centre) are using force and hooliganism to not allow MCD elections.

We will have to approach the court to conduct the MCD elections on time and we will do so.

After his speech, Kejriwal told reporters, "During the exercise of integration of the three MCDs, the Center had assured that a delimitation commission would be set up, after which elections would be held."

He said that more than one and a half months have passed since the integration of MCD, but he has not constituted the Delimitation Commission.

Kejriwal said that he does not want elections to be held, and it is against democracy.
