Italy is struggling with its worst drought in 70 years.

According to APA, a state of emergency was declared in 5 regions located along the Po River in the north of the country.

More than 36 million euros have been allocated to these regions to combat water shortages.

According to the country's officials, the drought threatens more than 30 percent of Italy's agriculture.

The Po River is the longest river in Italy, stretching up to 650 km.

However, recently, the mixing of salty sea water in this river destroys crops in agricultural fields.
