Iran supports the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

APA's Tehran correspondent reports that Iranian Foreign Minister Huseyn Amir Abdullahiyan said this at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.

The head of the Foreign Ministry said that Iran is in favor of solving the issues between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the basis of respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the parties and through political dialogue.

"During my visit to Ankara last week, my brother Mr. Çavuşoğlu and I agreed to hold a tripartite meeting of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey at the level of foreign ministers in Tehran soon.

Today, we will reach an agreement with my brother Jeyhun Bey regarding the date of the meeting," said the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

He noted that the discussion of electricity exchange was agreed between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The head of MFA also pointed out that he had a discussion with his Azerbaijani counterpart about the environmental problems surrounding the Araz River: "One of the issues that concern our border provinces is the pollution of the border river and environmental problems arising in Araz.

River pollution was discussed in the specialized field of environment.

We hope that we can take effective measures in this direction as well."
