The district court in Varna convicted a 29-year-old man from the seaside town of buying votes, the press service of the judicial institution announced. 

By virtue of an agreement reached between the parties and approved by the court today, the man was found guilty of committing a crime against the political rights of citizens.

The violation of the law was committed in November last year in the campaign for the elections for the President and Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria and for the National Assembly.

In the conditions of a continuing crime for the period from November 4 to an unspecified date before election day itself, the 29-year-old defendant, with two separate acts, offered two people a property benefit - a monetary sum of BGN 40 per person, with the aim of persuading them to vote right in favor of a specific political coalition registered for the relevant elections.

The defendant has a clean criminal record.

According to the agreement approved by the court, he should serve a sentence of 6 months of "imprisonment", the execution of which is suspended with a probationary period of 3 years.

The judicial act is final.
