With the taking of a military oath by newly appointed servicemen from the Joint Command of Special Operations (JOC) at Central Square in Plovdiv, the military celebration of Garrison Plovdiv began.

Service to the motherland is a special kind of duty and today you undertook to fulfill the highest duty that every Bulgarian can undertake - to serve your Fatherland faithfully and responsibly - with these words he addressed the 14 newly appointed Major General Yavor Mateev , commander of the SCSO.

Military service, service in the Special Forces is not easy, but on the other hand, it is filled with many challenges and emotions, a service that brings satisfaction, said Mateev.

He pointed out that young people are entering the army at a special moment in which the country, Europe and humanity are.

Be twice as tolerant and help them twice as much, Mateev addressed the servicemen of the SKSO.

And he added that "this is the only way we will become stronger, increase our operational capabilities and cope with challenges more easily", reports BTA.

We united ourselves with those who, with their blood and self-sacrifice, wrote the heroic history of a nation that did not bow its head to a tyrant and enslaver, and did not allow an enemy to trample its land, Private David Iliev said on behalf of the new recruits in the ranks of the special forces.

He assured that they will bear the high responsibility with dignity until their last duty.

The ceremony was attended by Air Force Commander Major General Dimitar Petrov, People's Representative Viktor Nasser, the Mayor of Plovdiv Zdravko Dimitrov, mayors of settlements from the Plovdiv Region, current and former commanders of the Plovdiv Garrison, representatives of the state and local authorities.

The program included a festive procession of representative blocks of military formations from the garrison.

Metropolitan Nikolay of Plovdiv offered a funeral prayer, wreaths and flowers were placed in front of the monument to the soldiers who valiantly fulfilled their military duty.

The celebration ended in a solemn dawn-check.
