Several people have been killed in a shooting at a shopping center in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, the police have announced.

Announcing the deaths, police chief Soren Thomassen said that a 22-year-old Danish man has been arrested in connection with the attack, BBC writes, Telegrafi follows.

He said the motive was unclear but did not rule out terrorism.

People fled a shooting in a Copenhagen mall that left several victims, Danish police said.

One arrest has been made in connection with the shooting.

Eyewitnesses have spoken of panic among shoppers after gunshots were heard inside the Field shopping center in the city's south.

Field's is the largest shopping center in Denmark, with over 140 shops and restaurants.

British singer Harry Styles was due to perform at a venue not far from the mall later on Sunday evening.

The organizers wrote on Facebook that the concert will take place after a close coordination with the local police.
