Army's Chinar Corps constructed a bridge overnight on the Baltal route of the Amarnath Yatra.

New Delhi:

On the Baltal route of Amarnath Yatra on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, two bridges washed away due to landslides and strong water flow were reconstructed by the army in record time.

The army rebuilt these bridges overnight.

The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army is assisting the administration for the security and smooth operation of the Amarnath Yatra, which started from June 30.

It is said that a sudden rise in temperature was followed by a landslide and due to this the bridges were washed away.

Due to this the road near Kalimata on Baltal road was closed.

Chinar Corps tweeted, "Two bridges near Brarimarg on Baltal Axis were damaged by landslides on July 1st. Chinar Corps has made material to restart the route and save commuters from taking more than four hours of detour." Mobilized and rebuilt the bridges overnight."

When the bridge was washed away, the local administration sought help from the Chinar Corps.

On this, the Kilo Force of Chinar Corps immediately started efforts.

The army mobilized the necessary items from helicopters, mules, porters along with the bridging stores of the Engineer Regiment.

Technical experts also helped and the bridges were remodeled.

The Army said, "In a record time frame, 13 Engineer Regiment of Chinar Corps built the new bridge overnight despite inclement weather and darkness. This enabled the yatra to continue without hindrance and created a sense of security among the pilgrims."

Amarnath is a cave temple of Lord Shiva situated at an altitude of 3,880 meters.

This time the Amarnath Yatra has started after a gap of two years amid the terror threat.

For security, security forces are deployed for detecting explosives as well as for other tasks.

Along with this, 200 powerful bulletproof vehicles have been kept at sensitive places.

More than 130 sniffer dogs have also been deployed on the vehicle routes leading to Amarnath for security in view of terrorist threats.
