Israel launched an airstrike this morning on a coastal village in Syria near the border with Lebanon.

Two people were wounded, the Associated Press reported, citing Syrian state media.

It is the first attack of its kind since June 10, when Israel struck the international airport in the Syrian capital Damascus, causing extensive damage to infrastructure and runways and disabling the main runway.

As a result, the airport was closed for two weeks, with flights resuming on 23 June.

Syrian state news agency SANA said Israeli warplanes flew over northern Lebanon and fired missiles at several poultry farms in the village of Hamidieh, south of the Mediterranean port of Tartus.

The site of the attack is a few kilometers north of the border with Lebanon.

Two people were injured, including a woman, and property was damaged.
