Sultanpur :

On Friday, a trailer vehicle coming from the opposite direction rammed an e-rickshaw on Prayagraj-Ayodhya bypass under police station Kotwali countryside of Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Five people died on the spot in the accident and three people were seriously injured who have been admitted to the district hospital.

Police gave this information.

On receiving information about the incident, District Magistrate Ravish Gupta and Superintendent of Police Somen Verma reached the district hospital.

According to the police, the driver of the trailer going from Prayagraj to Ayodhya lost control of the bypass and an e-rickshaw hit him near Odra village under Kotwali Dehat police station area.

He said that the local people along with the policemen pulled the injured out of the rickshaw and took them to the district hospital.

The dead include Phoolkali (60), Rajendra (45), Raghuveer (55), Nirmala (52) and an unidentified person.

District Magistrate Ravish Kumar said that the police have detained two persons including the driver of the trailer and the trailer has been taken into custody.

Legal action is being taken in the matter.

The families of the victims have been informed about the incident.

Police have taken the dead body in possession and sent it for post-mortem.
