The State Border Service commented on the news about the closure of the land border between Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Turkey.

In response to APA's request, the State Border Service (SBS) said that the SBS is performing appropriate activities in accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated June 20, 2022 No. 232.

It should be recalled that according to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated June 20, 2022 "On additional measures related to the extension of the special quarantine regime and the removal of some restrictions", in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the country and the consequences it may cause The period of the special quarantine regime in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been extended until September 1, 2022 at 06:00.

Thus, during this period, the suspension of entry and exit to the territory of the country by land transport remains in force, except for cargo transportation.

It should be noted that today information about the closure of the Nakhchivan-Turkey land border for citizens was spread on social networks.

Citizens were informed that they will not be allowed to cross overland from Nakhchivan to Turkey at the border crossing points.
