The first meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Working Group on Transport and Communications was held in Baku on June 29-30.

The meeting, co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov and Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Omar Fatih Sayan, told APA-Economics. Authorities from the fields were present.

According to the report, the meeting will focus on attracting additional cargo flows to the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the Middle Corridor, increasing the efficiency of Ro-Ro transportation in the Caspian Sea, as well as more flexible regulation of transit cargo transportation and facilitation of transportation processes. steps were discussed.

The event highlighted the importance of the first trilateral meeting of the Foreign and Transport Ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Kazakhstan held in Baku on May 27 and the Baku Declaration signed.

It was noted at the meeting that the Zangazur corridor will contribute to peace, stability and cooperation in the region, and the importance of the construction of the Kars-Nakhchivan railway, which will be a continuation of the corridor, was stressed.

During the event, the sides also exchanged views on the development of fiber-optic infrastructure between Azerbaijan and Turkey, cooperation in the new generation of 5G mobile communication technologies, cyber security, "smart" transport systems.

It was agreed to exchange experience and organize joint trainings in these areas.
