Baku State University's "Graduation Day" was held at the National Gymnastics Arena.

APA reports that the event was attended by Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, MPs, university administration, teachers and graduates.

Rector of BSU Elchin Babayev spoke about the activities of the university, the work done in recent years and wished the graduates success in their future activities.

"103 years ago, the university had 2 faculties, 44 faculty members and 1,094 students. Today, the university has 16 faculties, 120 departments with about 25,000 students at all levels of higher education, about 3,000 employees, including 1,500 There are 2 research institutes, the Center of Excellence, research and teaching laboratories, Gazakh branch, College of Economics and Humanities, "Young Talents" lyceum.

During its existence, Baku State University has trained about 200,000 specialists and highly qualified personnel.

"Throughout history, BSU graduates have been closely involved in building the country, and now they are fulfilling this responsible and at the same time noble mission," said Elchin Babayev.

The rector added that students and graduates of BSU are among those who raised the tricolor Victory Flag in our ancient lands liberated from occupation:

"About 200 graduates and students of Baku State University signed the Victory in the 44-day war, 19 of them rose to the peak of martyrdom. We bow to the souls of our martyrs with deep respect and esteem, we engrave their memory in our memory forever. .

Undoubtedly, hundreds of valuable people, dear teachers, working in the past and now at the University, who have a special place and role in the history of science and education of our native republic, have played an exceptional role in achieving these achievements.

These holy people really deserve great respect and esteem.

We have no doubt that in the near future the University will gain the status of the first Research University in our country by further increasing the scope and quality of scientific research. "

At the event, certificates were presented to the two students with the highest UOMG from each faculty, and the ceremony continued with a show program.

It should be noted that a total of 4,964 students will graduate from BSU in the 2021-2022 academic year.

Of these students, 4,120 received bachelor's and 844 master's degrees.

67% of the graduates are girls and 33% are boys.
