Russian forces abducted Kherson Mayor Ihor Kolykhaiev and then raided his offices, according to his adviser Halyna Liashevska.

A statement on the Kherson municipality website said that members of the Russian army had abducted Kherson mayor Ihor Kolykhaiev, the Telegraph reported.

In April, Kolykhaiev said he remained in the city but refused to cooperate with the occupation "administration" which was set up by the Russian military.

So far nothing is known about his fate, it is said in the press release, while the mayor's adviser has confirmed the kidnapping for Kiev Independent and Ukrainian Pravda.

Kherson is the main city of the region bearing the same name, and before the war had 300 thousand inhabitants.
