Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in United Arab Emirates (UAE)

on Monday

The visit came just weeks after a wave of anger erupted in Arab countries following comments made on the

Prophet Muhammad .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hugs UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He had reached Abu Dhabi airport to lead the Indian leader.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "I am deeply moved by this special gesture of my brother, the great ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He came to pick me up at the Abu Dhabi airport. I am grateful to him."

The Prime Minister arrived in the UAE on a day-trip on his return from the G7 summit in Germany.

Earlier, a lot of anger was seen in the Gulf countries due to the statement given on TV by the former BJP spokesperson about Prophet Mohammad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday on a brief visit to personally condole the death of former Gulf President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The current President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received Prime Minister Modi at the airport here.

Modi arrived here after attending the G7 summit in Germany.

The Prime Minister met several world leaders during the summit in Germany and discussed various issues aimed at advancing global welfare and prosperity. 

Sheikh Khalifa died on 13 May at the age of 73 after a prolonged illness.

Expressing grief over his death, PM Modi described him as a great statesman and visionary leader, under whose leadership the relations between the two countries prospered.

India had also announced a one-day state mourning after the death of Sheikh Khalifa.

The UAE honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the prestigious 'Zayed Medal' in 2019.

This honor was given to PM Modi for giving a 'significant boost' to the bilateral strategic ties between the two countries.

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan honored Prime Minister Modi with this highest honor given to kings, presidents and heads of state.

Sheikh Khalifa was sworn in as the second President of the UAE in 2004, and succeeded his father as the 16th King of Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi is the richest emirate of the UAE. 

He was occasionally seen in public since 2014.

He had surgery after suffering a heart attack, although he continued to issue orders.
