Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha.

Welcoming the Secretary General, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov once again congratulated Hissein Brahim Taha on his election to this important post, the Foreign Ministry told APA.

The Minister noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the OIC and has been actively cooperating with the organization so far.

It was noted with gratitude that the ECO has always supported Azerbaijan's position of justice based on international law, the adoption of relevant resolutions on the settlement of the past conflict, as well as in the post-conflict phase.

Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha noted that Azerbaijan is an active member of the OIC and its contribution to strengthening Islamic solidarity.

He noted with satisfaction the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan during his visit.

The Secretary General congratulated Azerbaijan on successfully hosting the ECO Tourism Ministers' Conference.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that the Secretary General's personal participation in the conference made a positive contribution to the event.

It was noted that Azerbaijan is determined to continue fruitful cooperation with the ECO, as well as other organizations under its leadership.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed the ECO head on the post-conflict situation in the region, the ongoing restoration and construction work.

He said that the Secretary General's visit to the liberated territories during the visit will provide a good opportunity to get acquainted with the situation here, including the devastation caused by Armenia for decades and the ongoing construction work in Azerbaijan.

The sides also exchanged views on topical issues of the ECO cooperation agenda, as well as issues of concern to the Islamic Ummah in the light of current events in the world.
