Ten people lost their lives and over 251 others were injured when a poisonous gas leaked in the port city of Aqaba in Jordan, writes BBC.

A tanker carrying poison gas fell from the crane as a result of a technical defect of the transport vehicle, and ended up on the ship again, Telegrafi reports.

The images published below show the moment when the crane just lifts it in the air, for a moment the tanker falls back into the ship and comes to the explosion of poisonous gas.

Suddenly a large cloud of yellow smoke spreads around the ship, and throughout the port of Jordan.

The Department of Civil Protection has sent specialized teams to the port, to address the issue of gas leakage and clean the area where the leak occurred.

Although the authorities have not disclosed what kind of chemical it is, the local media quote port officials who have admitted that it is chlorine.

The country's public television reports that nearly 200 people have been treated in hospitals as a result of exposure to the substance, and others who were injured have been released after treatment.

Authorities there have called on residents of the city of Aqaba, about 16 kilometers north of the country, to stay indoors and close their doors and windows.
