Jens Stoltenberg said he had invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson to meet in Madrid, and the leaders accepted the offer.

He said the meeting will take place on June 28.

"The goal is to make progress in the discussions on Finland's and Sweden's NATO membership. I would not like to make any promises, but I declare that we are actively working on this issue and, of course, take into account the security concerns of our ally and Turkey. "Sweden has made a historic decision to join NATO, which will strengthen our security, the Transatlantic region and contribute to stability and security in the region," he said.
