Maharashtra's political battle on the court's doorstep

Amidst the ongoing political turmoil in Maharashtra, the matter has now reached the courtroom.

In fact, after the Deputy Speaker issued notices to 16 rebel MLAs, the Shinde faction has reached the Supreme Court and filed a petition challenging the party's disqualification petition.

This petition has been filed by Eknath Shinde.

Along with this, another petition has been filed, challenging changes in the appointments of the leader and chief whip of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party in the assembly.

At the same time, in the midst of all this, the Shinde Group, the Uddhav Group and the Government of Maharashtra have hired different eminent lawyers to present their point of view in the Supreme Court. 

Senior advocate and former Solicitor General Harish Salve and former ASG Neeraj Kishan Kaul will appear in court for Eknath Shinde and the camp.

At the same time, senior advocate Kapil Sibal will represent for the Deputy Speaker, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Along with this, senior advocate Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi will be seen speaking on behalf of Shiv Sena (Uddhav camp).

Senior advocate Devdutt Kamat will represent the Maharashtra government and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta will represent the Centre. 

In fact, the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has issued disqualification notices to 16 MLAs on the petition of the Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena.

Those who have to answer by the evening of 27 June.

According to reports, Eknath Shinde, leader of the rebel Shiv Sena faction in Maharashtra, has questioned the validity of the disqualification notice in his petition filed in the Supreme Court.

Apart from Shinde, such notices have been sent to 15 other rebel MLAs.

Shinde Camp has also challenged the appointment of Shiv Sena Legislature Party leader Ajay Chaudhary.
