Provinces in Turkey's Black Sea region kicked off the week with rapid flooding following late Sunday's thunderstorm.

And as foreign media writes, the Telegraph reports, the biggest floods seem to have hit the Inebolu district of Kastamonu province.

Thus, a wide stream came out of its shores Monday morning, flooding residential areas along the stream, damaging parks and a market.

In addition, basement floors have been flooded with floodwaters, and the local municipality has warned shop owners on the first floors of buildings not to open them.

Locals were also asked not to approach banks and take shelter on the upper floors of buildings if their ground floor and basement apartments are in danger.

As further reported, the rains continued on Monday and also caused sporadic power outages.

Meanwhile, two iron pedestrian bridges over a stream are said to have collapsed due to flooding.

The floods also led to the closure of a road connecting the county with central Kastamonu.

The Turkish State Meteorological Service (TSMS) and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) issued a "red code", the highest emergency alert for weather-related incidents, for Kastamonu.
