"There are Russian troops in the city, trying to form the occupying power - appointing one or another commander, trying to create some assets of the city," - said the legitimate mayor of Severodonetsk

Alexander Struk

at a briefing on June 27 via video link.

According to him, the humanitarian situation in the city is very difficult.

“The situation with food is difficult, with the languages of the people it is difficult.

It is impossible to restore the infrastructure.

Even given the promises of the occupying power that they will soon restore order there, unfortunately - desirable, not real, "- added the Ukrainian politician.

Alexander Struk noted that the Russians do not systematically provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians who remained in the city, refusing to evacuate.

According to him, 7-8 thousand residents remain in the city.

“As far as I know, the occupiers are now occupying vacant living space, apartments of northern residents who were evacuated from the city, placing their soldiers and officers there.

That is, manage the city the way they want.

People are still trying to leave, some to relatives, to acquaintances in the occupied territories.

How they will be further is a principled decision and possibilities of each person, ”the legal mayor of Severodonetsk said.

Since 2014, after the occupation of Luhansk, Severodonetsk has served as the regional center of the Luhansk region.
