Amritsar:

Counting of votes is going on since Sunday morning regarding the Lok Sabha elections held on June 23 in Sangrur seat of Punjab.

The results of the elections held so far on the seat vacated after AAP leader Bhagwant Mann became the Chief Minister of the state seem to be going against Simranjit Mann of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).

However, the margin of votes is less than one per cent.

Let us tell you that Sangrur seat is considered to be the stronghold of Bhagwant Mann.

In such a situation, the party has fielded Gurmel Singh as a candidate from here.

After 13th round of counting, Aam Aadmi Party is leading by 807 votes with 79318 votes.

While Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) candidate Simranjit Mann got 78511 votes.

Whereas, Congress got 25710 votes, BJP got 20680 votes, Shiromani Akali Dal got 13947 votes.

Significantly, Bhagwant Mann has been winning the Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur twice with a record margin.

However, after AAP's landslide victory in the assembly elections this time, he resigned as an MP from Sangrur seat.

The by-polls in Sangrur held on June 23 saw 45.50 per cent voter turnout amid ongoing controversies over the killing of famous folk singer Sidhu Musewala.
