Aging is an inevitable factor in life, and while there are no safe ways to prevent aging, there are some things you can do without even realizing it and without speeding up the aging process.

Below are the five eating habits that experts say are the reason for faster aging, writes Eatthis.

You are not eating enough protein

"Not getting enough protein can make a person age faster," explains Dr. Anya Rosen, adding that dietary proteins help maintain a lean body mass.

Muscle loss that occurs as we age, also known as sarcopenia, 'contributes to injury and chronic illness'.

You eat a lot of sugar

Eating sweets and pastries is delicious for many people, but excessive sugar intake can affect faster aging.

"A high-sugar diet can make you age faster," explains registered dietitian Kathryn Piper.

She adds that this eating habit can "cause high blood glucose levels", which can result in more wrinkles on the skin.

You are not eating enough fiber

Fiber is important for intestinal health and provides a feeling of satiety.

And according to Jeanette Kimszal, if you do not consume enough fiber, it 'can affect aging'.

She says that by consuming plenty of fiber you have a lower risk of diseases and eating them is also associated with improved intestinal health and self digestion.

"These are all factors related to longevity."

You eat a lot of processed meat

Eating bacon, sausages or any other form of processed meat can be delicious, but eating them often will do no good to your body when it comes to aging.

The World Health Organization has classified processed meat as the number one carcinogen, which means that consuming that food is associated with an increased risk of cancer.

And since many of these foods are full of sodium, overeating them can be linked to cell aging.

You do not eat vegetables

Sweet potatoes, carrots and squash contain beta carotene, a carotenoid that offers several unique health benefits.

Carotenoids, like beta carotene, accumulate in our outermost layer of the skin and act as a protective barrier against ultraviolet radiation.

Consumption of foods with beta carotene helps to improve the appearance of the skin and reduce the signs of aging, as it affects the elasticity and hydration of the skin and ultimately reduces the development of wrinkles and age spots.

The data also show that including an adequate amount of beta carotene in your diet can help protect your skin from UV damage.
