Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik.

Baghpat (UP) :

Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik on Sunday opposed the new 'Agneepath' scheme for army recruitment, saying the government should reconsider the scheme.

Malik said that the jawan will undergo training for six months, when he returns home after six months' leave and three years' service, he will not even get married.

After the death of teacher leader Gaje Singh Dhama in Khekra here on Sunday, Malik had reached his residence to offer condolences.

Later talking to reporters, Governor Malik said that the Agneepath scheme is against the jawans, it is a betrayal of their hopes.

He said that earlier he had spoken about the farmers and now he is talking about the soldiers.

If you had resigned from the post and sat in the midst of farmers and youth and were vocal, it would have made more impact?

In response to this question, Satyapal Malik said, "If I would have been in the circle of advisors like you, I would not have reached here.

Then he further said that I will leave the chair in a minute if the one who made me says it.

Responding to a question about post-retirement plans, he said, "I do not intend to do politics and contest elections.

I will fight wherever needed for the farmers and jawans. ”Malik said that he will also write a book on Kashmir.

When asked whether after retiring, he would openly lead the movement against the central government?

Malik said that "it is not a matter of opposition to the government, if the issue I am raising is accepted, then it will be a matter of government's side."
