The mayors of several European capitals have been deceived by receiving video calls allegedly from Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko - the British Guardian reports that deepfake technology was used.

"There were no signs that the video conference was not held with a real person," said in a statement the office of the mayor of Berlin

, Francis Giffey

.

The Guardian writes that the conversation lasted about 15 minutes and the fake "Klitschko" began to say that the Ukrainian refugees are deceiving the German state in the matter of benefits and that they should be returned to Ukraine.

Suspicions arose in Giffei, and when the conversation was interrupted, she contacted the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany.

He, in turn, contacted the Kyiv authorities and found out that Klitschko was not real.

Klitschko's similar talks with the mayors of Madrid and Vienna are reported.
