The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, from Austria has stated that the regional initiative 'Open Balkans' is a means intended to implement the Berlin Process.

Invited to the European Forum "Wachau" on the topic "Preserving the future of Europe and the enlargement of the European Union", Rama said that instead of waiting for the green light from the EU, the countries of the region have thought of cooperating.

"We can wait for Godona, or move to revive the European spirit in our region," he said.

According to him, if the Balkan states do not try to normalize relations, the tragic past can be restored.

"We are very good at doing terrible things.

Cooperation must be the norm and the movement of people, goods, services and capital must be the way we live.

"We want to implement the Berlin Process and for this we have built a tool to implement it, the Open Balkans", added the Albanian Prime Minister.

Rama also spoke about the EU Summit with the leaders of the Western Balkans, criticizing the EU because on Thursday it was not voted for the opening of negotiations for Albania and Northern Macedonia, after the veto of Bulgaria.

He said that the Balkans need the EU as much as the EU needs it and added that he feels sorry for the European Union, because in such a hot situation in Europe, in the middle of a war, Bulgaria gets " hostage ”two NATO countries.

"This is the perfect place to discuss, some of the stairs go up and some go down, we are in the middle.

Some people understand it well, some others need encouragement to understand it, today the EU needs the Balkans as much as the Balkans need us.

On the other hand I have to say that it is not a good idea to invite someone from the Balkans and let him sit down because it can really take a long time to hear his word.

Therefore, congratulations to all those who had the idea for me to stand up so that my body stops the momentum in my mouth ", Rama declared, among other things.
