Microsoft is preparing to send messages to Windows 8.1 users in order to remind them that support and updates for this operating system will end no later than January 10, 2023.

The software giant will start sending these notifications to those using Windows 8.1 devices over the next month with the intent of notifying support of support for this operating system.

The Verge writes that the announcements will be the same as those made by Windows earlier, reminding people of the end of support for Windows 7, Telegrafi reports.

Microsoft had completed support for Windows 8 only in 2016, but that support for running Windows 8.1 will finally stop in January 2023. Microsoft will not offer a security update in Windows 8.1.

Businesses will no longer be able to pay for additional Windows 8.1 security updates, in which case they will either have to pay for upgrades or have to operate without software security updates.

Windows 8.1 was an upgrade for Windows 8, a system that was not well received, and despite noticeable improvements over the years for Windows 8.1, its era and Windows 8, it will be a period that many users of the software giant will try to forget it.
