A 42-year-old man has been arrested and is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and terrorist acts, following the shooting in the center of the Norwegian capital, Oslo.

Two people were killed as the number of injured went to 21 after gunshots were fired at a bar in a busy neighborhood at night.

The shooting took place at the London Pub, a popular location for the LGBTI + community, and near the jazz club Herr Nilsen and a restaurant.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere called it a "terrible and deeply shocking attack on innocent people."

Meanwhile, the annual Pride Parade in Oslo was to be held on Saturday, but was canceled following police advice.

"Soon we will be proud and visible again, but today, we will share our Pride celebrations from home," said a statement on the Oslo Pride website.
