At the invitation of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Rashkov, a delegation led by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov paid a two-day official visit to this country.

The press service of the Interior Ministry told APA that President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev received a delegation led by Interior Minister Vilayat Eyvazov on June 23.

Saying that Azerbaijan is a strategic partner for Bulgaria, the President expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive cooperation.

He praised the friendly relations between the two countries and the strategic dialogue between Sofia and Baku in a number of areas of common interest, noting that the promotion of cooperation between law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime is an important factor in enhancing Bulgaria's partnership with Azerbaijan.

Mr. Rumen Radev said that despite the fact that both countries support each other's independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty in the international arena. He stressed the need to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to the President.


Minister of Internal Affairs Vilayat Eyvazov thanked Bulgarian President Rumen Radev for the attention, kind words and valuable views on Azerbaijan, as well as for receiving the delegation. He conveyed the cordial greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to the Bulgarian President.

Then a meeting was held between the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Rashkov and a delegation led by Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov.

The meeting praised the existing relations between the Interior Ministries of the two countries, and expressed confidence that cooperation in all areas will be further strengthened and developed.

Emphasis was placed on the opportunities for the development and deepening of bilateral relations in the field of internal affairs and security, the fight against various forms of transnational organized crime, and the importance of effective joint efforts.

Noting the development of historical friendly relations between the two countries, Interior Minister, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov expressed satisfaction with his visit to Bulgaria and thanked for the high-level organization of the visit.

He expressed interest in cooperating with his Bulgarian counterparts in the exchange of experience and information in the field of various manifestations of transnational organized crime, terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking, drug trafficking, illegal migration.

At the end, the Interior Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

It was noted that this Memorandum will expand opportunities for the exchange of best practices in the field of education and will contribute to improving the level of professional training of police officers.
