Thirty people have been injured in a large forest fire raging in recent days in the area of ​​the Turkish resort town of Marmaris, and the treatment of two of them continues, said Health Minister Fahrettin Altun, quoted by state television TRT Haber, BTA reported.

A total of 29 people were injured in the blaze, Kodja said on Twitter, without specifying whether the flames or smoke had harmed people.

Twelve people were taken to hospital by ambulance and 17 received on-site assistance.

Two are still hospitalized, the minister said.  

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu announced yesterday that a man had been detained on suspicion of arson and had pleaded guilty.

The third day continues the fight against fire, including by air, involving more than 60 aircraft.

Under the influence of the strong wind, the smoke from the fire has reached the city itself, and meteorologists warn that this afternoon the strength of the wind will be even greater.

The road between the towns of Marmaris and Datca is closed to traffic.

Meanwhile, firefighters continue to work to extinguish the flames.

Reinforcements from the capital, Ankara, have joined the firefighters from Mugla County, where Marmaris is located, and nearby counties.

According to authorities, more than 3,200 people are involved in fighting the blaze, including more than 1,000 forest workers, as well as 730 fire trucks and tanks, the Hurriyet reported.  

Azerbaijan has sent an amphibious plane to Mugla with an 11-member team, which will join the fight against the fire today, CNN-Turk reported.

Agriculture and Forestry Minister Vahit Kirishci announced that the families evacuated due to the fire would be paid three thousand pounds each. 

So far, more than 130 houses and more than 430 people have been evacuated due to the fire, Kirishchi said.
