New Delhi:

The last date for filing income tax for the last financial year is approaching.

For the financial year 2021-22, taxpayers have to file tax returns by July 31, 2022.

Right now it is more than a month, but to avoid any hustle and bustle, it is important that you complete the paperwork of your IT return in time.

Every salaried citizen should file a tax return.

All the people falling above a particular tax slab have to pay tax to the government annually.

Taxpayers falling in different tax slabs have to file tax in different ranges.

As the income of the taxpayer increases, his taxable amount also increases accordingly.

The Income Tax Department divides individual taxpayers into three categories-

- Resident and non-resident taxpayers (under 60 years of age)

- resident senior citizens (people aged 60 to 80 years)

- resident very senior citizens (people above 80 years of age)

Income Tax Slabs for FY22 and Assessment Year 23

In view of the crisis arising out of the epidemic in the year 2020, the government had decided not to make any changes in the income tax slab in the budget.

However, some exceptions were kept in the new slab.

According to this, such senior citizens of 75 years who depend on their pension and interest received on their income, were exempted from filing tax returns.

In this case, TDS will be deducted automatically by the bank.
