Amazon is teaching Alexa to mimic or recreate anyone's voice - even if the individual is no longer alive.

The technology giant confirmed that it was developing the system during its annual conference March 2022 in Las Vegas, reports Telegrafi.

Alexa senior vice president Rohit Prasad showed the feature in a demonstration video where a child asks Alexa to read a bedtime story to the late grandmother's voice.

The Amazon team achieved audio production, referring to just one minute of someone's speech recording.

The video is then used to create longer audio that sounds almost identical to the person's voice.

"This required inventions where we had to learn to produce a high quality sound with less than a minute of recording versus studio recording hours," Prasad told the conference.
