ED probing role of Gandhi family in National Herald case

New Delhi :

Recalling his marathon interrogation session with the Enforcement Directorate, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi today said the investigating agency officials were surprised to see his patience and endurance.

Addressing party workers, MPs and MLAs at the Delhi headquarters, he said that he never felt lonely in office despite sitting in a room of 12/12 feet with three ED officers.

He said, "I was not alone in the room, all you Congress workers were with me. And all those who believe in freedom were with me."

Rahul Gandhi said that the ED officials asked him at night how he could sit straight on the chair for more than 11 hours without getting tired as he himself was tired.

He jokingly said, "I thought I should not tell him the real reason, I told him that I do Vipassana. You have to sit in it for a long time and then you will get used to it."

After this, Rahul Gandhi told about the process which lasted for five days.

He said, "I answered the questions, checked all the answers, and didn't leave my chair much."

Rahul Gandhi said that on the last day the officials asked him, "How do you have so much patience."

"I told them I won't tell you... you know what the truth is? The truth is I've been working with Congress since 2004 and of course I have patience. This party doesn't let us get tired and it teaches That's how we should be patient. Look at Sachin Pilot (this is a sign that he is also patiently waiting for his due). And this is the way we fight for the people."

After this, he attacked the Center on unemployment, damage to the MSME sector and many other policy decisions.

He said the biggest issue in the country is jobs and the government has broken the "backbone of the country" by damaging small and medium businesses.

It is worth mentioning that Congress MPs and MLAs from across the country had gathered at the party headquarters today.

He had come to express solidarity with Rahul Gandhi after being questioned by the ED.

Addressing his MPs and MLAs, Rahul Gandhi said, "Didn't I tell you that the Agriculture Act would be repealed? Look, Modiji had to repeal it. Now I am telling you that the Agneepath scheme has been postponed. Will be given. Just you stop and watch. Modi has 'betrayed' India and its army. Soon the Agneepath plan will be rejected."

Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi has so far been questioned by the ED for over 50 hours in five days in an alleged money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper.

The ED is probing the role of the Gandhi family in the National Herald case.

This includes the acquisition of AJL (Associated Journals Limited) by Young Indian.

The AJL company runs the National Herald newspaper, a mouthpiece of the Congress party.

National Herald has now become an online outlet.
