There is a gap left for Northern Macedonia in the draft conclusions of the EU Summit to be held on June 23rd and 24th.

This document, which will be given to member states for discussion and approval before the summit, will not be complete as long as the issue between Skopje and Sofia remains unclear.

MIA reports that the draft Conclusions of the European Council Summit address President Macron's idea of a "European political community" with member states, partner countries in the east and the countries of the Western Balkans.

"The aim is to encourage political dialogue and cooperation to address issues of common interest in order to increase security, stability and prosperity on the European continent," the June Summit Draft concluded.

This draft document will be presented to the Heads of State or Government of the EU on 23 and 24 June.

It states that this "framework" will not replace existing EU instruments, including enlargement.

On the same date, 23 June, before the start of the European Council summit, the EU plans to meet with the leaders of the Western Balkan countries to discuss the future of the region.

The draft conclusions are expected to be clarified soon as two days before the summit of the European Council, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member states, today and tomorrow in Luxembourg, in the General Affairs Council will talk about enlargement, first of all the future of candidacies of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, but also for the perspective of the Western Balkans.
