The struggle with Moscow has become the main motive for the actions of Washington and its allies.

APA's Russia bureau reports that Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said this at a meeting in Kaliningrad on topical issues of national security in northwestern Russia.

He opened the event and proposed to reconsider the implementation of the Basics of Russia's State Border Policy in the regions of the North-West Federal District.

"The urgency of this issue is due to the fact that threats to national security are forming in the border area of the Russian Federation due to the observed increase in the military and intelligence presence of NATO in the north-western direction of the border.

"It can be said that the fight against Russia has become a key factor in determining the policy of the United States and its allies," Patrushev said.

Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev has paid a working visit to the Kaliningrad region to hold a meeting on national security in northwestern Russia.

APA's Moscow correspondent reports that the meeting will be held against the background of the alarming situation over Lithuania's embargo on the transit of a number of goods subject to EU sanctions from the main territory of Russia.

The meeting will be attended by Alexander Gutsan, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the North-West Federal District, heads of regions of the North-West Federal District, and representatives of a number of ministries and departments.

The Security Council requested that in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency's ongoing inspections in Iran, that it monitor Iran's compliance with "the steps required by the IAEA Board".

It was also stated that Patrushev's visit to Kaliningrad was planned even before the introduction of restrictions on transit to the Lithuanian region of Kaliningrad and was not directly related to these events.
