Imprisonment and a fine of 5,000 for a man who stole personal belongings and a payment document in Dobrich

On June 5, 2020, the two defendants visited a casino in Varna.

They spent several hours there, after which they left.

Near the gaming hall they noticed a parked car, the back door of which was not locked.

Taking advantage of this fact, the friends got in the car and looked at the things in it.

They took an organizer with them, where they noticed that there was a bank card.

S.I.

and G.P.

went to an ATM, where they made two unsuccessful attempts to withdraw cash.

They did not know the PIN code on the card and could not guess it.

So they decided that they would start making direct payments of small amounts, knowing that they didn't need to know the access code.

For the period from 04:30 to 13:00 on June 6, the two managed to make a total of 19 payments worth BGN 863.02 with a foreign bank card.

Meanwhile, the owner of the payment instrument found him missing and reported the theft of his belongings.

He also called the bank whose services he used to deactivate his bank card.

The two defendants have not been convicted and do not have forensic records.

The case against them is to be scheduled for consideration in the Varna District Court.

If convicted, each of them could be sentenced to "imprisonment" for a term of two to eight years and a fine of up to twice the amount received.
