International Refugee Day was marked today in the square "Zahir Pajaziti", in Pristina through the action "I was a refugee".

On this occasion, citizens wrote down the names of all those who were refugees during the last war in Kosovo.

Fjona Haxhismajli from the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, said that the purpose of this activity is for citizens who were refugees during the war to share their stories.

"Through a road action, we are marking this day by saying, 'I was a refugee,' but also 'I support the refugees.'

In this way we are engaging the citizens to symbolically remain a document, a way for all of us to be part of the action.

There they are signing and putting their name, but also in this way they are having the opportunity to share their stories, because we have created a virtual platform where it is located on the Internet, it is the virtual museum of refugees.

There are the different stories, as well as different narasites of the people who have already shared.

Since 2020 it is like a platform, people have shared their refugee stories during the last war in Kosovo.

We have the most different stories and people of different ethnicities ”, emphasized Haxhismajli.

She also spoke about the platform, "Museum of the childhood of the last war in Kosovo", who are collecting materials with the experiences of citizens who were refugees during the war in Kosovo.

"We also have the platform" Museum of the childhood of the last war in Kosovo ", which is in the process of being created, but also for that we are collecting different materials and stories from people", said Haxhismajli.

Otherwise, about 1 million Albanians were forced to flee their homes during the war in Kosovo and each of them has a story of his own.
