Despite the possibility of reaching an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia on energy in the north next week, the Government of Kosovo is being asked to use the creation of an international momentum for mutual recognition and to make progress towards a final agreement with its northern neighbor.

However, in the ruling party, Vetëvendosje Movement, they accuse Serbia of deliberately delaying the dialogue.

Arbër Fetahu from the Group for Legal and Political Studies, tells KosovaPress, that the high-level political dialogue should have an increased dynamic, especially, as he emphasizes after the request of the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz that the agreement should contain mutual recognition and support of the European Parliament.

"The high-level dialogue has a stalemate, but it is important that Kosovo is not a blocking party in this process and not a rejecting party for meetings.

It has been seen from the statements that Kosovo is ready to participate in the meetings, there are some proposals.

Also, the request for progress is welcome, when it is mentioned that the epilogue of the dialogue should be mutual recognition… There will be an added dynamic and request from both parties to sit at the table.

"Now, with these statements from Germany, the resolution of the European Parliament and the statements of the United States, Kosovo has a strong lever in the dialogue, as the recognition is already part of the public discourse", he says.

The opposition LDK MP, Rrezarta Krasniqi, also demands greater intensity in the dialogue with Serbia, although she is critical of the Kosovar side's approach so far.

"So far we have had a technical dialogue, we have not had a serious dialogue.

There has been no transparency on the issue of dialogue.

We have heard about the meetings held by the Office of the Prime Minister only through the media, we have not been notified as an MP and as chairwoman of the Commission for European Integration.

Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs did not respond to the invitation for days on what is happening with foreign policy.

"While the Deputy Prime Minister has not given us anything clear every time he has come, something that has to do with the issue of dialogue", she emphasizes.

However, Vetëvendosje Movement MP Haki Abazi says that Serbia's only tactic is to delay the dialogue.

He adds that this game of Serbia is ending as a chapter.

According to him, the international allies are already clear that Serbia has no will to move forward.

"(Crawling) is the only tactic Serbia has used, buying time.

But I think this is ending as a chapter for me, and both Brussels, Berlin and Washington are clear that Serbia has no political will to move forward towards transformation to be part of the European Union.

This has been a game and so far this political will is lacking.

"While Serbia's positions are completely different from what has been said and promised, be they bilateral and within the framework of dialogue," he said.

A meeting at the level of the chief negotiators of the dialogue in Brussels is announced next week.

The EU representative for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, this week at the Prespa Forum in northern Macedonia, expressed optimism for reaching an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, alluding to the energy deal in northern Kosovo.

However, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, yesterday asked for caution in statements regarding the possibilities of reaching an agreement with Serbia./kp/
