Kyiv can expect to get the support it needs "as much as it needs to."

In an interview with dpa on Saturday, Scholz said he wanted to use next week's G-7 meeting in the Bavarian village of Elmau to discuss Ukraine's long-term prospects.

"We will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary," Scholz was quoted as saying.

Scholz said he and his counterparts from France, Italy and Romania had discussed further arms supplies to Ukraine with President Volodymyr Zelensky during a visit to Kyiv on Thursday.
