Mythological beliefs are that Goddess Tulsi was the wife of a demon named Jalandhar.
Who was born as an incarnation of Lord Shiva but, because of his deeds, he was born in a demonic family.
The people around used to be very troubled by the terror of Jalandhar demon, but no one had the courage to kill him.
At the same time, Tulsi, whose name was Vrinda, was a pious woman.
In such a situation, one day Lord Vishnu took the form of Jalandhar and dissolved Tulsi's virtuous religion.
When Vrinda came to know about this, she got angry and cursed that she would take the form of a stone.
However, the anger of Goddess Tulsi did not subside even after Lord Vishnu told the reason behind it.
After this Vishnu ji also cursed her that she would become of wood in her next life.
It was only after this incident that Shiva killed the Jalandhar demon.
Due to the killing of Tulsi's husband by Shiva, its leaves are not used in the worship of Bhole Shankar.
