As the volume of gas imported from Russia decreases, Germany must take urgent measures to ensure the reliability of its energy supply.

APA reports that the German Ministry of Economy stated this in a statement issued today.

The ministry said that the reduction of gas makes it inevitable to turn to coal.

Coal should be used more in electricity generation to reduce gas consumption.

Therefore, coal-fired power plants will be preferred.
